PEC Program for 14 Jan / Report for 7 Jan 2007

Meeting Programme for Sunday, 14 January, 2007:

Bruno Keller, from the German wing of the PEC, will speak about the growth of our fellow expat club, and the development of a German language channel on Sophon Cable. Khun Bruno, who comes from Switzerland, retired to Pattaya in 1993 after a long and successful career in marketing. Bruno then discovered that sitting by the pool all day was no challenge, and so dove back into the business world. He now helps run several Swiss-based companies, does charity fund-raisers, is active in the Jomtien Pattaya Rotary Club, and, of course, the Pattaya German ExPats Club.

Our second guest speaker will be Khun Yok, who will tell us of her motivational method of teaching Thai to foreigners. She teaches Thai in group or individual sessions at her school on Naklua Road, 119/77, opposite Wat Po. She will be giving us pointers on pronunciation, how to speak with our Thai friends and family, and how to conduct business with our local Thai businessmen. Yok's e-mail is: yok_teach_thai@yahoo.co.th , or she can be reached at:
089-166-4899.

Our Master of Ceremonies this Sunday will be Richard Ravensdale, and Bob Sutterfield will host our Open Microphone Forum, so come and listen in at 2nd Rd's Grand Sole Hotel, and participate with questions and answers about nearly everything for living safely and legally in Pattaya !

The PEC is starting (slowly!) a DVD and Book Swap. Bring in those books and DVD's that you've already perused, and swap them out for some new ones! We will place boxes in the outer lobby for the swaps.

MEMBERSHIP NOTE: The PEC committee has reduced the cost of short term memberships, which all expire 31 December 2007, to 200 Baht for the year.

PATTAYA BRIDGE CLUB (Please Note Change of address): Meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 13.00 at the Tropicana Hotel, North Pattaya; between the Beach Road and 2nd Road. Players of all abilities are welcome. Tel 038 422924, mobile 086 7445386. www.pattayabridge.com

The PEC's next Monthly Golf Tournament is in the planning. More info on this event is available from Pattaya People Office (Soi Day Night), Globetrotter (just off Soi 7), and of course PEC Club meetings on Sunday, or contact Ossi Viljanen on 081 851 9620,
(ossigolf@yahoo.com). These events are popular and fill up quickly, so sign-up early to avoid disappointment. A new venture for golfers is a twice weekly friendly event starting from Globetrotters off Soi 7. Sign up at Globetrotters by 1500 two days before.

oooooo

And our Meeting of: 07 January 2007 -
Hi, I'm Brian, an MC at the Sunday meetings of PEC
To contact the Pattaya Expats Club email: (webhits2000@yahoo.com)

Programme Manager:- Loran Davidson.
Meeting Manager:- enRico Nestler.
Alexander was our MC today, with Bob as Open-Forum Moderator.

Please think about helping out at the Pattaya Expats Club Meetings, or in the background during the week. A lot of preparation needs to go into one of these Meetings. You would be welcome, and you can determine your own level of assistance. Please contact a 'Maroon Jacket' member at any meeting.

Our Speakers today were:- Pattaya International Hospital. 2 excellent Doctors gave us a review of two subjects - first a look at how important annual check-ups are, especially for those of us heading into retirement. It's so easy to mistake a reduction in energy or ability as simply aging, when actually it may simply be a loss of an important chemical due to living a different lifestyle in a new climate. The problem is, if this change continues, it not only means a reduction in lifestyle ability, but may be causing some damage to cells or organs. Dr. Kitjakarn Junda gave us his hospitals extensive range of Check-up Packages, specifically aimed at different genders and age groups, and all at reasonable prices as a first step to discovering any problems that may be ongoing.
Dr. Dararat Kanjanakotch is a specialist in Botox Beauty treatments, and showed us how we could be more beautiful with age - safely.
As a first step, why not come along to a Meeting and experience a few free tests to see if your blood-work shows up any abnormalities.

Our President - Niels Colov - took a light-hearted look at the year past and recalled many events, festivals, celebrations and oddities that occurred. I sometimes have trouble remembering what happened at the last meeting, I don't know how he manages to recall such detail. A fascinating review.
