As a requirement to maintain licensure as a psychologist in Louisiana,
I must provide evidence of continuing education in psychology on a
semi-annual basis.
In partial fulfillment of this requirement, this summer I plan to
attend the Associate Fellowship Training Program at the Albert Ellis
Institute in New York City. As a prerequisite to this I need first to submit
a minimum of five audio tapes of psychotherapy sessions and receive
professional supervision of my work by other psychologists.
I am willing to donate, free of charge, a minimum of five hours of my
professional services to any person requiring psychotherapy, provided
that I may audio tape the sessions to be submitted for the purpose of
qualifying for this training program. The tapes will be treated as
confidential, used for this purpose only, and no identifying information will
be released to any outside party.
If you know of anyone in the Pattaya area who could benefit from
short-term psychological services (up to 5 hour-long sessions), at no charge,
please refer him or her to me. Fluency in spoken English is a strict
requirement.
The sessions will be held at a location in Pattaya yet to be
determined.
Thanks for your help.
Regards, Michael.

WEEKLY EMCEE
Hi, I'm Brian Maxey <http://us.f513.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=kop1bj-pecmc@yahoo.com&YY=44048&order=down&sort=date&pos=1&view=a&head=b>
~ 19 February meeting - a somewhat emotional 'last day' before moving
to our 'new' home at the Grand Solé Hotel, 2nd Road (north). Our many
thanks to the staff of Green Tree for taking good care of us for the last
81 Saturday meetings. Onward & upward.

~ Our 'event manager' Richard said 'good-bye' for around 3 months, to
return to his 2nd 'home' (and 1st love) Nepal.
Denis Laurin will deputise during this time, bringing his special
French-Canadian touch to the proceedings. Thanks Denis.

~ I did a 'visa run' last week to Pong Nam Ron (Thailand side) & Prum
(Cambodia side). I used 'Five Star Visa Runs' located at both The
Sportsman on Beach Road Soi 13 & the Lobby on Soi Bua Khao. If you can show a
current Pattaya Expats Club membership card you will get a discount of
140 baht from 2,300 baht. We left at 0700 after a good breakfast,
arrived at the border at 1026, and returned to Pattaya at 1440. We were two
small mini-buses of 12 people. No other buses were seen at this border
post while we were there - very quiet. 3 good quality movies were shown
during the trip. Tea/coffee and lunch was supplied free. All in all I'd
agree with the name 'Five Star'.

~ Bob Lee is a Director of the Thailand Division of SKÅL International
(www.skalpattaya.org) (tel: 022538302) (email: http://us.f513.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=bobscous@Loxinfo.co.th&YY=44048&order=down&sort=date&pos=1&view=a&head=b)
He spoke of the SKÅL organisation, its aims and successes.
SKÅL is an international organisation which brings together all sectors
of the travel and tourism industry. Representing the industry's
managers and executives, Skål members meet at local, national and
international level in an environment of friendship to discuss subjects of common
interest.
The first Club was founded in Paris in 1932 by travel trade managers
who had been on an educational tour of Scandinavia and so the idea of
professionals in travel and tourism working closely together in a spirit
of friendship was born. The idea of professionalism and international
friendship became immediately so popular that in l934, Skål achieved
international status with the formation of the Association Internationale
des Skål Clubs (A.I.S.C.), on the initiative of the first President of
the Paris Skål Club and the man considered the "Father of Skål",
Florimond Volckaert. The Association is now known worldwide as "Skål
International".
From that modest beginning, Skål now numbers almost 25,000 members in
over 500 Clubs spread throughout more than 80 countries. As in other
associations of professionals most Skål activities take place locally, but
the movement also features National and Area Committees under the
umbrella of Skål International, which has its permanent General Secretariat
in Torremolinos, Spain.
Being made up of Travel, Tourism and Transport Professionals, the
business advantage of joining Skål is obvious. By attending local meetings,
National and International Congresses and other events, members are
able to meet industry colleagues from clubs throughout the world and above
all to network with their colleagues in the industry. These meetings
give members the chance to make contacts, on both a business and personal
level, and to forge new and lasting friendships.

~ Among the audience today was Joachim Triebel, a travel services
company director from Ilo-Ilo Philippines. He is here on holiday (no,
really!), and would be happy to hear from you if you need information
(http://us.f513.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=germantravelUS@yahoo.com&YY=44048&order=down&sort=date&pos=1&view=a&head=b).

~ A Norwegian man Kolbjörn H. Langsholt, a scientist & inventor of the
'Moscow Thomas Edison Club' attended, and is looking for like minded
friends to meet & exchange ideas. Contact him by email:

~ An update to the UK Nationwide bank card info from last week. Our
member uses both a Credit Card & a Debit Card from this bank. Both cards
attract NO charges for ATM & shopping use here in Thailand, or on the
internet.
We need more info on this subject from North American, Australian &
European sources.

~ The Consular Section of the American Embassy in Bangkok will be in
Pattaya on Friday, February 25th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00
to 2:30 PM at the Amari Orchid Resort, Pattaya. The following consular
services will be available:
*Passport renewal applications (US $55.00 or baht 2,200 for adult
passports)
*Additional passport pages (no charge)
*Notarial services (US $30 or baht 1,200 for the first Notarial; US $20
or baht 800 for each additional related Notarial), including income
letters for immigration.
*Embassy registration and/or address change *Absentee ballot
application and voting abroad information
*Social security, VA or other federal benefits questions
*Obtaining forms for marriage registration, report of birth, etc.
**The Embassy asks that you bring the correct fee as they will not be
able to provide change or accept credit cards.

~ The Asian University presents Nobel Prize Laureate, Prof. Douglas C.
North, to speak on the economics affecting Beliefs, Institutions and
the Control of Violence, on Friday, March 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. The talk
is free of charge, and will be given in the Asian University's Theatre,
Highway 331, Huay Yai Amphur, Banglamung, Chonburi.
This will be followed the same day by another FREE seminar entitled
"Entrepreneurial Opportunities through Regional Empowerment" at 1.00 pm.
If you would like further information or would like to attend and
participate please book your place by e-mail at http://us.f513.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=uni_info@asianust.ac.th&YY=44048&order=down&sort=date&pos=1&view=a&head=b or by
telephone on 038 754 450

~ This Newsletter is always available on our website
http://www.pattayaexpatsclub.com/newsletter.htm, and just became
available as a 'BLOG' on http://pattayaexpatsclub.blogspot.com/ which you can
access direct.

~ The Club's 'Chat Forum' link is:
http://s8.invisionfree.com/expats/index.php? you will need to set up a
username the first time you visit, but the forum is an excellent place
to 'talk' to people worldwide about anything you want to know - try it.

~ The 'Open Microphone Forum' each Saturday is a time for you to ask
that question that has haunted you for a while. We can usually find
someone who has 'been there - done that' to provide the answer. If you
cannot attend the meeting why not try our 'website-forum' - same idea.
(http://s8.invisionfree.com/expats/index.php?) Or via the website. You
can always email me direct - see above for address.

~ Keep the emails coming, tell us what you think of our club in it's
new venue, tell us what you like, tell us what you think is missing,
always happy to know someone's listening.

~ Plenty of 'parking' at the new venue.

~ See you next Saturday 11:00am (1130 program start) at the Grand Solé
Hotel, 2nd Road - introduce a friend.
Brian. <http://us.f513.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=kop1bj-pecmc@yahoo.com&YY=44048&order=down&sort=date&pos=1&view=a&head=b>
