PEC Program for Sunday 3 December 2006

Meeting Programme for Sunday, 3 December, 2006:

Our guest speaker is Mr. Scott M. Bernat, Assistant Force Protection Attaché, US Force Protection Detachment, in Bangkok. Scott will be presenting a talk on safety and security considerations for the U.S. Military in Thailand.
The US Military routinely visits Thailand for joint US-Thai Military exercises, as well as for rest and relaxation. As in the US and other parts of the world, safety and security remain paramount. Prior to a visit, US Military personnel receive comprehensive briefings on topics to include Thai culture, security awareness and appropriate standards of conduct. Basic safety and security precautions are applicable to all and require a close partnership with Thai Law Enforcement, Thai Citizens and the ex-patriot community. This presentation details the basic concepts we all need to know and follow in order to ensure Thailand remains a safe and highly regarded living and travel destination.
Mr. Bernat is a Force Protection Officer detailed to the U.S. Embassy and Joint U.S. Military Advisory Group Thailand from the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). He is an Honor Graduate of the University of Massachusetts Journalism and Political Science Program and a Distinguished Honor Graduate of the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. His background includes US Military Conventional and Special Operations.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Bernat has worked in direct support to significant law enforcement, counter-drug, counter-terrorism and VIP Protection operations in over 35 countries, to include the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, South East Asia and the Far East.

Mr. Bernat, in his current position as Chief of U.S. Naval Security Thailand, maintains a close working relationship with the Royal Thai Police and is a frequent guest lecturer/speaker on law enforcement and counterterrorism issues.
Richard Ravensdale has returned from his work in Nepal, and will also address the PEC regarding security from a hotel manager's standpoint.

Our Master of Ceremonies this Sunday will be Richard Ravensdale, and Bob Sutterfield will host our Open Microphone Forum, so come and listen in at 2nd Rd's Grand Sole Hotel, and participate with questions and answers about nearly everything for living safely and legally in Pattaya!

See you Sunday - !!
